Far Cry 3 Makes Achievement Hunting Fair Again on Steam

Ubisoft has done a player-friendly thing for its fans. It added Steam achievements to this classic title. Better yet, it eliminated multiplayer trophies impossible to get.

Steam Achievement Support Arrives

The highly acclaimed 2012 open-world shooter now arrives on Steam with full achievements support. People who had already had challenges on Ubisoft Connect don’t have to do everything over. Their saved achievements on it will automatically sync to Steam.

Goodbye, Impossible Goals

Ubisoft closed the multiplayer servers of Far Cry 3 in 2022. This left six multiplayer achievements impossible to unlock. Rather than removing these permanent roadblocks, Ubisoft simply removed them. That makes it harder for completionists to target achievable goals.

Not an Isolated Case

This is not an isolated incident. Ubisoft has been adding Steam achievements to a number of its classic titles:

• Far Cry 4 and 5
• Assassin’s Creed Unity
• Assassin’s Creed Black Flag
• Assassin’s Creed Revelations
• Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

The Legacy of Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 transformed the series into a AAA powerhouse in 2012. The game introduced beloved elements like:

• Vast jungle environments
• Dynamic wildlife hunting
• Strategic outpost conquests

Looking Forward

Newer Ubisoft releases like Mirage and Outlaws now launch with full Steam achievement support. Although players still have to use Ubisoft Connect to play, this is a positive step toward better Steam integration.
