In a thrilling new wave for the Indian gaming landscape, CookieRun India is Krafton’s new effort to bring cultural flavor to the endless runner franchise. This new reimagined version of Cookie Run: Classic, an original game from 2013 launched in South Korea, hopes to resonate with Indian gamers as it incorporates local themes and characters and offers a uniquely gaming experience. But can this adaptation keep the attention of players? Let’s explore!
Gameplay: Simple Yet Strategic
The core of CookieRun India retains the engaging flavor of the original. Players steer their selected Cookie through colourful side-scrolling levels to collect Jellies and coins, avoiding obstacles and grasping power-ups. Although the controls are as basic as jump and slide for new players, for an experienced gamer, there is some strategy involved.
Each Cookie has a unique ability matched with a Pet that further diversifies gameplay. It plays an important role in progressing if players are trying different combi combinations of Cookies with Pets to maximize performance and achieve better results. The satisfying gameplay will have the gamesters try out all variants, level up their respective characters, and figure what works best for them.
Bursting with Local Flavors
What truly sets CookieRun India apart is its vibrant localization. The game introduces new characters, such as Gulab Jamun Cookie and Kaju Katli Cookie, alongside whimsical Pets like Tiny Tabla and Parrot Dada. Each character comes with unique abilities and animations, showcasing Devsisters’ creativity.
It also has a specific mode called Coin Palace Rush, inspired by Indian palaces. The Coin Palace Rush is a bit nostalgic, with its beautiful regal visuals and music and provides a harder challenge since it involves pure player skill without any power-ups or special abilities involved!
From looks alone, the game’s localisation effort extends beyond visuals alone in having integrated the number system, even cultural references from India.
The initial Indian Cookies and Pets roster is impressive, yet variety would be a good addition with more updates.

Visuals and Design
Visually, CookieRun India is a feast for the eyes. The game is full of colors and has adorable character designs. The animations are smooth, and the environments are rich and engaging. The visuals of the game hold up well despite its origins from a decade-old title, which shows that Devsisters has worked hard to maintain a fresh aesthetic.
The upbeat background music adds to the experience, although it may not stand out as particularly memorable. Overall, the game’s design is appealing and welcoming, making it enjoyable for players of all ages.
Progression and Monetization
CookieRun India is suitable for both hardcore players and those willing to dedicate their time. While a player can unlock all Cookies in the game without spending actual money, the gacha system for Pets introduces some grinding elements that might frustrate some. The process of collecting Pets is tedious and may result in duplicate receipts, which will make people upset.
The Cookie Pass costs ₹299 (₹199 at launch) and provides extra rewards for completing game levels, but only time will tell how valuable it is.
The game’s stamina system, represented by hearts, limits gameplay sessions. Each heart takes eight minutes to refill, which can interrupt the flow and discourage extended play. Yet, this might also be an anti-addiction mechanism.

Social Features and Community Engagement
Krafton and Devsisters want to create a strong social experience in CookieRun India. There is a clear “Friends” tab on the user interface, and invites friends via WhatsApp, encouraging people to invite their friends for more interaction in the community. Krafton has further added leaderboards, both national and regional, in line with its strategy to emphasize local connections.
Players can also earn Crystals by sharing demographic information, probably to help tailor future game events and regional support. This focus on social engagement is a promising aspect of the game, although its full potential will unfold as the community grows.
The Verdict: 4 out of 5 Stars
In conclusion, CookieRun India is a well-polished adaptation that integrates Indian culture into a classic gaming formula. Although some mechanics may feel a bit outdated, the charm of its characters, vibrant visuals, and localized elements make it a very delightful experience for players. Despite some grind-heavy aspects and monetization layers, casual gamers and dedicated players alike will find much to enjoy in this colorful adventure.
