Finally, Nintendo has unveiled the main setting for the highly-desired Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which will arrive on November 7, 2024. The popular plumber brothers will set out on an island-hopping adventure in a totally new setting known as Concordia.
A Tropical Paradise of Floating Islands
Dubbed the “island getaway,” Concordia is sure to be a colorful and unique world for players to discover. Composed of various drifting islands, each is bound to have its own respective charm, including:
- Ship Island: The home base of the brothers and their primary mode of transportation
- Gran Gran Island: Home to rock-like beings and environments
- Tuis Island: A tourist destination filled with twisted trees
- Xenialver Island: A major driving economic force of the region
- Kandang Island: Magma and ice contradict a land of extremes
Note: The island names are currently based on the Japanese version and may change in the English localization.

New Threats and Allies
As Mario and Luigi explore Concordia’s chain of floating islands, they will encounter all manner of colorful characters-both new friend and foe alike.
The Mysterious Boldrud Squad
It’s teased a new rival crew called the Boldrud Squad. Described as “suspicious characters giving orders behind the scenes,” you can bet your bottom dollar these baddies will be putting our heroic plumbers through their paces.

Every island in Concordia has a population to meet, from the rocky beings of Gran Gran Island to the multicultural people populating the busy city on Xenialver Island.

Combination Attacks: The Return of a Series Staple
Meanwhile, fans of the Mario & Luigi RPG series will love to hear that one of the best features – Combination Attacks – is back for Brothership. Nintendo has promised some fantastic animations and small flourishes that make the special moves really pop. It seems the game will be pretty impressive from a presentation standpoint.
Pre-Order Bonus: A Collector’s Dream
A savory pre-order bonus has been announced for the eager ones who want to get their hands on Mario & Luigi: Brothership. French retailer Micromania recently posted that an exclusive steelbook would feature beautiful promotional art of the Mario brothers.
Nintendo of America so far hasn’t confirmed whether this will be available in all regions, but surely fans are high on this being a chance at a nice collectible.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership symbolizes the triumphant return of this beloved RPG series, which went painfully silent after AlphaDream closed up shop in 2019.
